By Jim Bowers
He could speak,
But He couldn't make people listen.
He could talk,
But He couldn't make people hear.
He could explain,
But He couldn't make people understand.
He could teach,
But He couldn't make people learn.
He could call,
But He can't make people come.
He could challenge,
But He can't make people respond.
He could charge,
But He can't make people obey.
He could commission,
But He can't make people go.
He could be an example,
But He can't make people follow Him.
He could humble Himself,
But He can't make people humble themselves.
He can love,
But He can't make people love.
He could die for others,
But He can't make people die for Him.
